About Maha Marimbas LLC

In the summer of 2022, my wife Elise (an elementary music teacher) was talking with friends about how much she loves the marimbas in her classroom. Sadly, the builder that many area teachers worked with had retired and moved out of the area. The only way to buy a marimba was to take a weekend workshop to learn how to build them. Since that conversation, I dove head first into the art and science of hand crafting marimbas. I drove to Bellingham, WA with my father-in-law to learn from the well respected, veteran marimba builder, Tom Bourne. I began experimenting and practicing with different techniques. After weeks of practice and a few prototypes, I sold my first two marimbas. Maha Marimbas LLC was in business.

Maha Marimbas LLC is located in the Seattle Metro area, Bothell WA. The marimbas are built in my garage. We do not have a store front.

In case you’re curious where the name came from, it’s the first two initials of my first name and the first two initials of my last name – Matt Harris.
